(3 minute read)
As I’ve been re-reading The Law of Success in Sixteen Lessons, by Napoleon Hill, I’ve been jumping around.
Instead of reading it straight through like I’ve done before I started with Lesson 11 (Accurate Thought). This morning I finished it and decided to jump into Lesson 9.
Lesson 9 is called Habit of Doing More Than Paid For.
In Lesson 11, Hill referenced Lesson 9. So I thought, “let’s go there next”. As I read it this morning it struck me how much of my ability to grow an international downline was because I had done what Hill is talking about.
Doing More Than Is Expected Of You
I encourage you to pick up this book & hit Lesson 9.
Inside your network marketing pursuits I’d like you to ask yourself if you’ve been focused on giving as much of yourself as possible.
Only you will be able to truthfully answer this question. The answer may be enlightening in terms of your success to this point in time.
You may wonder what I mean here…
Let Me Step Back For Some Background
I often cite how I built my group without doing offline methods I hated doing.
Things like 1on1 coffee shop meetings…dragging people to local opp nights (what I often call “dog & pony shows”), scouring the mall for “victims”, the 3-foot rule, or any of the other extremely time consuming offline MLM prospecting methods.
I did them back before I understood Internet marketing & hated every aspect of it. Knowing what I know now about the subconscious mind & Infinite Intelligence I realized why I failed over and over.
If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing you’ll experience a continual loop of feeding these negative & unproductive signals to your subconscious.
If you ENJOY your activities then the opposite happens. Hill touches upon this in Lesson 9 of The Law of Success.

Defining “More Than Expected” In MLM
OK, back to doing more than is expected.
I realized that ever since I embraced Internet network marketing, I enjoyed it so much that I gave way more than ever expected of me.
I blogged to attract my target market (blogging about the SOLUTIONS my products SOLVE, not about the company or opportunity up front)…
I then started making videos, doing webinars, posting solutions on social media, etc.
I focused on how could I give as much VALUE first to people who had challenges my products solved. Rather than try to sell them immediately (which is what most networkers are doing) I focused on helping them understand various ways to solve their problems.
This process converted total strangers into folks who came to like & trust me. Once this happened, buying from me or joining my team became THEIR decision.
Focus On Providing Value
I hope my story is settling into your consciousness as a way you can more easily grow your business.
Don’t be like the mass of networkers SHOUTING on social media about how they have great products or a great opportunity.
When you say, “we have a special until the end of the month..contact me!”, it smells of selling. When you say “I have the best opportunity…you should contact me!”, it smells of desperation.
Instead, take an evening to write down everything your product line solves for people. Is it helping certain medical conditions? Is it helping folks lose weight? Is it helping people with self improvement? Is it helping folks have access to an attorney at reasonable costs?
Next, create content that shows people with the problems you can solve various ways they can find help.
Be willing to give them general tips & ideas that aren’t necessarily tied to your company, products or opportunity.
This process makes you an expert in your niche. As your readers come to view you as an advocate they’ll want to know more about you. They’ll want to get in contact with you.
Now your efforts are generating TARGETED, INTERESTED leads! That’s when my business took off and it was truly fun.
How Can You Accomplish All This?
Start slow. Don’t worry about videos or webinars or even social media at first.
In my humble opinion, the best way (and the way I started out) is to simply blog.
Blogging puts you at an advantage in that each post you make will get indexed at Google. As folks looking for your solutions actively search for those solutions and land on your blog you’ve immediately separated yourself from the pack.
You immediately are a “step above” all other networkers in your company.
Now, blogging can be complicated or it can be simple. I’m a fan of “simple”. You can either take a few months learning all the technical aspects of domain registration, domain mapping, plugins, design, etc…
Or, you can use a simple 1-2-3 blogging system that allows you to start blogging in a few minutes.
If this is sounding way better than spending 4-5 nights away from your family dragging people to meetings or coffee shops then I invite you to click the banner below to get started on your network marketing blogging journey.
It’s a fun ride & will produce a residual prospecting machine for your MLM business.
