Matt’s Memo #12 / 4-minute read
Video Version of Memo
"I’ll try to build my business."
Ever used that phrase?
In my opinion, it’s a dangerous phrase.
Do You “Poke” At Your Business?
Ever watched a movie or TV show where the hero chases the bad guy and finally thinks they’ve killed the em?
Then, they do that annoying “poke em with a stick” move right?
They kind of poke him to see if he’s really dead.
The bad guy pops open his eyes, jumps up and starts chasing our good guy all over again.
Sigh…
The good guy just didn’t get the job done, did they?
It’s irritating.
But do you build your affiliate marketing, coaching, or network marketing business that way?
Do you poke it with a stick by saying, “I’m gonna keep trying?”
I encourage you to think hard about that approach because when you tell yourself you’re going to try something, you’re not putting your full effort into it.
There’s a multitude of marketing techniques out there.
You see people yelling online about:
Do TikTok, do YouTube, start a blog, run Facebook ads, form partnerships, DM people on Instagram, contact people on LinkedIn..
You might get excited and try a strategy for a couple of days or weeks, you don’t get any results, you don’t get any leads, nothing’s happening.
And so you say, “No, that doesn’t work. I’m gonna try this instead.”
And what I want you to do is stop right there.
Just stop doing that.
Commit & Stick
What you really want to do is commit to one way, to one technique, to one method…
whether it be using video, marketing on Facebook, posting on Instagram, whatever it is, pick one.
And commit to doing it until it nets you results.
Don’t try it.
You’re going to do it.
You commit it.
Just like Yoda told Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knights don’t try, Jedi Knights do.
And when you can commit to yourself that you will make a decision, and stick to it.
You’ll build your business properly.
You’ll invest the time to master one marketing technique that brings you the monthly leads that result in the sales required to make a difference in your life…
When you commit to doing that and not trying it, you’re on your way to finally achieving the business success you dream about.
The point to my message?
Do it.
“Try” is Code for “Not” Getting it Done
Remember that “try” is a code word for not getting it done, OK?
You’re not going to “try” anymore.
Take a few minutes to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and make a decision.
Say to yourself:
I have no other options but to make my business successful.
- My parents can’t help me.
- My spouse can’t help me.
- The President sure can’t help me.
Only I can help me.
Although if you’re a believer, you know that’s not exactly true.
You can lean on God and use prayer and fasting to give you answers and energy to work hard.
Overall, though, all that matters is you make a decision.
Choose a marketing strategy.
Commit to it.
Don’t try it.
Do it.
Complete its cycle over and over and over and over…
Until you see the fruit of it.
The leads and sales that get you and your family free.
Any type of success, in any area of our lives, it all starts with a real commitment that you’re just going to get it done.
You’re going to do what’s necessary.
You’re never going to try something.
You’re going to do it.
You’re going to stick with it until it happens.
Tap Into Your Uniqueness
You have qualities about yourself that you may not even realize yet.
There are skills and experiences and stories that you bring to the table that I don’t have…that no other person does.
You might not realize it at this moment, but if you get out there and expose other people to what you’re about through your marketing.
If you stick with it and show others who you are.
You’re going to start attracting the right people who want to know more about you and the solutions you can provide them.
People will start saying,
“I like what you’re talking about, I like your article, your video, your Facebook post, and I want to know more. I want to get to know you better. I want to buy from you. I want to join your business.”
You can do that.
But no more “trying.”
Make a decision, get out there and make your business happen.
Ok, that’s it for this Memo.
See you in my next Memo with more exploration into the concepts and skills that will drive more leads and sales for your business.
Helping you build it big,
Matt
